Nobody inspired??Previously on the Blog..The "legacy" thing - Is it not the case that this choir Kelvin Dale is in is a result of a lot of the volunteers, who got such a kick out of being involved with the Games, now inventing things so they dont have to give it all up and be at a loose end again?
Hanging about on street corners causing trouble. I've volunteered for the Commonwealth Games and am presently brushing up on my people skills. What about Caravan's If I Had To Do It All Over Again I'd Do It All Over You?
Somebody has that up on FB already. No Bellamy Brothers yet though.
Henri Hannah, too. I'd counter with Maybe The People Would Be The Times Or Between Clark and Hilldale by Love though it's really a title and an alternative.Trouble in Brazil - that's how it started in Turkey.
Its all very peaceful. Just a few taking advantage and breaking things. A lot of broken glass in town this morning. It's getting a wee bit Rita Coolidge on here is it no?
You get a "goal" for the 10th post.
It's a Long Way to the Top (If You Wanna Rock'n'Roll)
but Dale doesn't understand ... My Brain Is Hanging Upside Down (Bonzo Goes to Bitburg) – Ramones
Here come KPMG!
Think I'll have a piece an' jam after ma tea.
...bother, too slowI didn't realise that the Bellamy Bros. song was so like Lyin' Eyes.
Which one ... My wife left me for my girlfriend?
It's a favourite of mine that haven't heard in ages.
So it is Glen. Hadnt noticed before.
The irony is the Bellamy Brothers threatened to sue Britney Spears over her song Hold It Against Me.
previously on this blog...........the choir......its been quite a surprising development in my musical life.....it came out of nothing except chance........when i received the e-mail from london2012 way back in october 2011 i knew it would be a significant life event....what i didn't know was just how far and extensive the new friendships would have developed......i am now scouting venues in glasgow for a singer/songwriter........and the musical side of the choir is being run by a young girl who is so driven and demanding....she wants a great choir...and that all came from a chance remark a member of her family made......its called grabbing the moment....there are about 500 signed up with the choir and they would walk on smoking coals for the musical director.....just since it was set up in august........performances have included....german markets south bank which was really nice.......glasgow 2014 volunteer launch on central station and those who took part in that are still in awe of the experience and many fell in love with glasgow, that's true....then they did mile 23 at the london marathon.......then a posh event with fullers brewery....then the 'hero ride' just a few weeks ago....and it was quite special to be standing just feet from mark cavendish as he made a nice speech on behalf of the cyclists......and next up is the big gig in queen elizabeth park in july......and so it goes on.......and within all of that are the cameos....the clarkston style old lady who approached a couple of members of the choir on central station to tell them their rendition of 'wild mountain thyme' was wonderful......as someone at glasgow 2014 mentioned recently...the dream goes on....and so it does.....cheers frae the dale
How do you make a living when you gotta split the fee 500 ways?Re: Wednesday - Motown CoversPass. If I never hear Jimmy Somerville again it'll be too soon.
Scotch and I are in a choir
You're right again Glen. Here's the whole Britney/Bellamy/Eagles saga laid bare by someone who I suspect is an American relative of Capt. Ramius.http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=if2ZAX7ivSg
And they were suing about lyrics which they'd pinched from Groucho Marx. It's no coincidence that their name is an anagram of slob try blame her.
That's a man with too much time on his hands ☺
Who Adam or Glen? Both?
I actually meant Captain R's American relative but now you mention it...
And don't get him started on this
Yup, we talked about this when it came out.
Boss a bit off form, Norrie?
Certainly not. Bosstastic.Only did 3.5 hours though. Must be getting old.
Maybe the E-street band aren't in a union
Slim Whitman has croaked. How will we defend ourselves against Mars now?
No one from Mars ever called me a Jock
Here AFR bit of a tough start for Moyes...
Tell me about it. He could be out by Xmas.Need to get the big marquees in quick.
Don't give monkey's cuss about Moyes ... 10 days left and here we go for the 100th http://t.co/brHnA2o9c7
Am assuming it's footba' youse are talking about. A blank page to me. Sort of similar to BB never having heard CCR's 'Heard it Through the Grapevine?' Jeezo. I suppose it fits with only ever playing Tina Turner making a dog's dinner of Proud Mary.
I suppose they played the short version. I heard Vanilla Fudge mentioned but it was only for them to laugh at the name.
Gaie,I should warn you I've requested Michael Marra's Reynard in Paradise for tomorrow's show. (Paradise being Celtic Park in Glasgow's East End).Truth be told, the game was rather tedious, the highlight being a fox (Reynard) scampering across the pitch, thus earning the biggest cheer of the evening. If I can persuade Norrie and/or Julie to ask for it, it might even get played!
Ach well, if it doesn't get played, SG, you've always got Friday evening and your foxy lady to look forward to, eh?
SG pretend it is the Beatles and HenriHannah will get it played for you.
i was absolutely dumbfounded by the comments made by that guy who's on after GIO last night (tuesday)...........he comes on about 1hour 36 mins in........the bbc should be ashamed and a public apology made......bang out of order and it just shows what lurks just below the surface except this time it surfaced. i think your man was apalled.cheers frae the dale
If you're talking about Jamie MacDougall I can see no cause for offence.
apart from the offensive nature of the comments which had nothing to do with what was being talked about..the comments themselves were highly sexist.......i'm going to follow it up and will report back with the BBC response...they will have to account for the remarks one way or the other.cheers frae the dale
At 1:36 Jamie launches into a Kenneth McKellar cover from his new album. Not to everyone's taste perhaps but upsetting only to those of the most delicate sensibility.
wrong programme glen..............its GIO tuesday..at 1hr 31 mins when that little chatty interlude comes on.....why he even pauses to formulate what he's about to say.....all i heard was a massive clanger.....but the bbc has a strange contact procedure on issues like this......it has all these portals to contact programmes but if you want to make a complaint.you have to send a letter, through the post to an address in Doncaster!! too funny.I'm not making a complaint (yet), however i will be asking for a translation of what Jamie MacDougall was saying...watch this space.......they have some explaining...cheers frae the dale
sounds like a storm in a D-cup to me
There is only one broadcast available. At 1:31 there is an interview with RSNO's Jenn Minchin which seems innocuous to me.
yo glen,Its Tuesday's GIO....18th june 2013cheers fare the dale
You mean "heavy up top"?
Having perused the previous correspondence, I conclude that any written complaint to the BBC should, indeed must, include the reference to massive clangers.
I once complained about a "Yummy Mummies" theme and predictably got nowhere.Send Jamie to the countryside for re-education.
Calm down, dear!Have a wee cup of tea, and unwrap a Classic!
I think my point is being well looked into. I received an encouraging reply.......'Please do not reply to this email. It comes from an automated account which is not monitored'.But I'm not taking their word for it - right now I'm trying to get in touch with that bloke in the Hong Kong hotel who knows about these sorts of things...he'll be able to tell me exactly what's going on....cheers frae the dale
It would be quicker to organise a demonstration, turn up at BBC HQ at PQ next Tuesday, and unfurl your banner:-MASSIVE CLANGERS OUT!
All that Jamie was trying to say is that it's hard to get your tongue around a long one. A title that is ☺
There should have been complaints last week when his chat with Vic was plonked in the middle of I Feel Love!
yes, that's a perfectly feasible interpretation.......what I'd like though is the BBC's interpretation......cheers frae the dale
Good one Gaie! (Storm in a D Cup). And thanks for the mammaries Dale!http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=A3Golf34zPQandhttp://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rJLA6pRCOmA
It's good to know that, no matter what your problem, there's always a sympathetic ear on this blog.
You'd need more than a sympathetic ear to make anything of GIO's list of best songs of the last 20 years. Here's something I heard on Paul Jones this week instead.
Wot, no Michael Marra?BTW, does Friday's theme require single word songs and single word artists? Or single word songs or single word artists? We should be telt! (A single word clarification will suffice).
Her voice reminds me of Millie Small. I'm more of a Joanne Shaw Taylor man
Nice guitar; and it says she played at the queen's jubilee concert. How did that happen among all the ageing sirs that make up a royal command performance?
Jim Davidson had to cancel
Why, was Chalkie sick?
Summer solstice, here comes the rain ;-(
I see that you're an eternal optimist ☺
the gig in the olympic park now includes............mcfly...........the feeling.........bond.........anybody wanting autographs.....mine for instance!!........or how about this..........interesting.......http://www.thelittleboxoffice.co/alistairgriffin...................get in quick 30 seat venue and a decent cup of Tcheers frae the dale (re my ongoing one way discussion with the beeb.......i am now adopting the stephanopoulos approach of triangulation...that should do it)
If you can say stephanopoulos you are fit to drive
